The group Applied Analysis & Mathematical Physics conducts since 1990 research and teaching activities in ordinary and partial differential equations, and in mathematical modelling of problems from the natural and technical sciences. The group is part of the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science at the University of Twente.
Most research is executed in cooperation with scientists from other disciplines at the university or in industry. Members of the group participate in three of the University Research Centers, the Institute of Mechanics, Processes, and Control Twente (IMPACT), the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, and the MIRA Institute for Biomedical Technology and Technical Medicine, and in two national research schools, the J.M. Burgerscentrum for Fluid Mechanics and the Mathematics Research Institute.
Various interdisciplinary research projects are executed with involvement of Ph.D.-students.
Teaching is performed in the Bachelor (3 years) and Master (2 years) programme Engineering Mathematics, in particular for specialization Mathematical Physics & Computational Mechanics.
